Jenkins Motorsports SCORES ANOTHER TOP 10 but is Still Adjusting to New Gear Rule at Bridgeport Speedway
Swedesboro, NJ | May 19, 2017 - Team Dirt Dog's Chris Jenkins finished 10th in the "Friends of Mike" DIRTcar Sportsman Modified feature Tuesday night at Bridgeport Speedway, but knows he and the car can do better. Jenkins has been trying to find a new set up since a new gear rule went into effect several weeks ago. He started 4th in the feature, faded to 12th with an ill handling car, then made some cockpit adjustments and gained a few spots.
In an effort to equalize competition between the open and crate motor packages run in the Sportsman Modified division, the track took a big swing and mandated a 4.86 gear (from a 5.11) for the open motor competitors like Chris. Car counts in the Sportsman class had fallen off last year, but are now as strong as ever thanks to all the adjustments and efforts of track management.
Despite the fact that Chris is frustrated with still trying to find the sweet spot on the set up, he has managed a string of Top 10s this season. We're confident that very soon, we'll see the # 27J battling for the lead at the monster 5/8 mile at Bridgeport. Be sure to stop by the Jenkins pits on May 28th to grab some Dirt Dog Gear and his new Dirt Dog Customs driver's tees to support his team!
