Swedesboro, NJ | Nov. 16, 2017 - We all know how important momentum can be to a race team, especially heading into the off season and Chris Jenkins got a big moral booster at his final event of the season.
Jenkins turned his fastest laps ever on the big 5/8 mile, setting Quick Time in the first session for the DIRTcar Crate/Sportsman Modifieds at 22.096 sec (101.828MPH). Another driver bested him by 0.180 seconds in the second qualifying session but Jenkins went on to finish 3rd in the "Underdog 20" feature that night and 11th in the "Big Track Classic" the following night.
With the track changing the division rules to only allow the 602 Crate Engines for next year, the Jenkins Motorsports team has some decisions to make in the off-season as they currently run an "open" sportsman engine (which will be illegal next season) but this new found speed is certainly a step in the right direction.
