HE'S BAAAAAACK.... Team Dirt Dog's Scott Govertsen Wins Heat & Leads Pro Stock Feature for 15 Laps at Lebanon Valley Speedway
West Lebanon, NY | Sept. 4, 2017 - 51 year old Scott Govertsen is certainly no rookie, but this season has had a bit of a learning curve after taking eight years off from racing to raise his girls with his wife Michele. Last Saturday night, the former track champion at Accord Speedway and Pro Stock Single Lap Record holder at Lebanon Valley Speedway got back up to speed and darn near won the feature. "I finally felt like the old Scott behind the wheel!", exclaimed Govertsen.
After winning his heat, Govertsen started on the pole and hustled the # 117 Govertsen Fabrication / Team Dirt Dog, DIRTcar Pro Stock to the high side, holding the lead through 3/4 of the A-Main. But, the car was getting tighter with each lap and on a restart after lap 15, Scott pushed up towards the wall allowing the # 178 of Stephen Larochelle to get by cleanly and take the lead. Scott tried a crossover move but couldn't make it work and he got freight trained by the other Top 5 cars, leaving him in 7th place at the checkers with Larochelle grabbing the victory.
Govertsen stated, "We've made huge strides in proving we are here for real. Our result tonight of 7th position doesn't come close to showing how great our night has gone. Congratulations to Stephen Larochele on your win tonight, respect gets respect and tonight we both gave each other that respect to run side by side without contact for the win. That was awesome, we need more of that in this class."
